Weekend Update (10/19)

Weekend Update is simply a number of links that I think would be helpful and fun for ministry leaders.

Finding Sermon Illustrations with a Wild Goose Chase / This approach has been so helpful lately in sermon prep. The second example he gives is particularly cool.

I’m Too Busy to Develop Leaders / ‘The “I’m too busy” excuse actually indicates that you’re perfectly positioned to develop other leaders.’

How Creative Business Blesses a City / Cool profile on my friend Aaron Klusman and how his entrepreneurial efforts are impacting Phoenix.

New City Catechism / “We decided to adapt Calvin’s Geneva Catechism, the Westminster Shorter and Larger Catechisms, and especially the Heidelberg Catechism, to produce New City Catechism. While giving exposure to some of the riches and insights across the spectrum of these great Reformation-era catechisms, New City Catechism also looks at some of the questions people are asking today.”

First World Problems / “I’m starving…all I have is leftovers.”

I was born and raised in Denver, CO and lived there through high school. Then I moved to Champaign, IL where I attended the University of Illinois and played on the Fighting Illini baseball team. I was married in December, 2001 to Molly, who I met at the U of I. In June of 2002, we moved to Phoenix and have been here ever since. In July of 2006, we welcomed a baby girl, Abby, into our family.
