Weekend Update (2/22)

Here’s some stuff to check out that I think might be helpful and fun for you.

On Sermon Illustrations / 9 tips for improving illustrations in sermons. I’ve learned the hard way on #3.

North Point’s Volunteer Process / This is so practical from a systems perspective. “Most pastors stand up and ask people to get involved, but they don’t create the next steps that are crucial for building an awesome volunteer ministry.”

The Dignity of a Salesman / Thoughtful reflection by my friend Jim Mullins on how salespeople can integrate their faith and work.

Confessions from a New Mom’s Devotional Life / New moms (and long-time moms) are often crushed by unrealistic expectations for their devotional lives. This is helpful.

Behind the Back Ping-Pong Shot / You would have never known about this before the internet.

I was born and raised in Denver, CO and lived there through high school. Then I moved to Champaign, IL where I attended the University of Illinois and played on the Fighting Illini baseball team. I was married in December, 2001 to Molly, who I met at the U of I. In June of 2002, we moved to Phoenix and have been here ever since. In July of 2006, we welcomed a baby girl, Abby, into our family.
